
Axel Kaiser

Axel Kaiser Barents von Hohenhagen, PhD, is a Chilean-German lawyer and economist. In addition to being a senior fellow at the Archbridge Institute, he is the co-founder and president of the think tank Foundation for Progress in Santiago de Chile. He has been highlighted as one of the ten most admired intellectuals in Chile by the newspaper La Segunda, and he is frequently featured in Latin American media. He is a columnist for the newspapers Diario Financiero and El Mercurio, and his opinions have been published in international media such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Forbes, La Nación de Argentina, El País de Uruguay, and El Mundo de España, among others. He is an international lecturer and author of several best-selling books.
He received his Ph.D. and Master’s in investments, commerce, and arbitration from the University of Heidelberg (Germany). He was previously a visiting scholar at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He has won several international prizes for his writings, including the Mont Pelerin Society’s Hayek Essay Contest. A study published by Johns Hopkins University’s Institute for Applied Economics put him in third place among the “influencers on economic issues” with the greatest global impact in Latin America, Spain, and the United States on X (formerly Twitter).
