Public policy plays a powerful role in shaping the conditions under which people work, care for their families, start businesses, and pursue economic security. Regulations are meant to protect consumers and workers—but when they are poorly designed, outdated, or overly restrictive, they often do the opposite, limiting opportunity and slowing progress.
The Regulatory Policy Center exists to ensure that regulation serves human flourishing rather than standing in its way. As the Archbridge Institute’s dedicated policy department, the Center focuses on producing original, high-quality research and disseminating it to academic, media, and policymaking communities to drive meaningful reform.
A Policy Focus on Opportunity and Mobility
The Center’s work is grounded in the belief that human flourishing depends on a policy environment that encourages social mobility and economic dynamism without creating unnecessary barriers. Our research concentrates on regulatory policies that directly shape everyday economic opportunity, including:
- Occupational Licensing and Labor Policy: Examining how licensing regimes and labor regulations affect job access, wages, entrepreneurship, and worker mobility
- Childcare Regulation: Analyzing how regulatory barriers limit childcare supply, raise costs for families, and restrict parental choice
- Healthcare Regulation: Identifying regulatory obstacles that constrain innovation, access, and affordability in healthcare
- Emerging Technology: Exploring the impact of regulations on generative AI and other evolving technologies
Across these areas, we seek to understand what works, what doesn’t, and how policy can better support human flourishing.
What We Do
The Regulatory Policy Center conducts original policy and peer-reviewed research, translates findings for public audiences, and contributes to policy debates at the state and federal levels. Our scholars engage with journalists, academics, and policymakers to ensure that research informs real-world decisions.
Through research reports and policy briefs, media commentary, legislative testimony, and direct outreach, the Center works to elevate regulatory policy as a central issue in discussions of economic opportunity and human flourishing.
The Regulatory Policy Center is led by Edward Timmons. Check out our interview on the launch of the Center.
