Shishir Shakya, PhD, is a labor policy fellow at the Archbridge Institute. He is an assistant professor of economics at Appalachian State University, where he teaches applied econometrics, time series forecasting, and business statistics. His research spans health economics, labor markets, and regulatory economics, with a focus on how institutional frameworks shape healthcare access, mobility, and economic opportunity. He has published his research in top-tier journals such as Health Economics, Economic Letters, the Journal of Rural Health, World Development, and Public Choice, among others.
Dr. Shakya received his Ph.D. in economics from West Virginia University. His work is defined by a commitment to interdisciplinary inquiry, methodological rigor, and socially meaningful outcomes. He is a frequent contributor to policy dialogues and academic conferences, where he brings an empirical lens to questions of human flourishing, equity, and institutional design.
