Washington, D.C. — Today, the Archbridge Institute—a nonpartisan, independent public policy think tank—announced a major expansion, with eight staff members and 20 fellows now guiding the think tank’s world-renowned research on culture, economics, psychology, and other topics. Founded in 2016, Archbridge has emerged as America’s foremost think tank on the topics of human flourishing and economic mobility, reaching millions of people with its research and public policy advocacy. Led by President and CEO Gonzalo Schwarz, Archbridge will continue to inform research, policy, and cultural conversations by building a bridge between cutting-edge data insights and the narratives that drive individuals and society.
As part of Archbridge’s expansion, Clay Routledge will serve as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, in addition to leading the think tank’s Human Flourishing Lab that conducts original research and provides resources for the media and the general public. Edward Timmons will serve as Vice President of Policy, after serving as founding director of the Knee Regulatory Research Center at West Virginia University. Other staff members include Vice President of Finance Romulo Lopez; Chief Economist Justin Callais; senior fellow (and Nobel laureate) James J. Heckman; senior fellow Axel Kaiser; and Kali Keller, Director of Communications and Marketing.
Archbridge’s team of research fellows will support staff across three disciplines: Economics of Flourishing; Psychology of Flourishing; and Culture of Flourishing. The Economics team includes 11 fellows across education, family, labor, and regulatory policy; the Psychology team includes three fellows across clinical, social, and positive media disciplines; and the Culture team includes six fellows across issues like multimedia, religion, and Latin America. With 20 fellows from some of the leading academic institutions in the United States, Archbridge will be able to deliver research that is not only highly credible, but also directly relevant to U.S. policymakers and everyday American citizens.
“This is a new day for the Archbridge Institute, but it speaks to the immense trust that we have cultivated from various stakeholders since our founding in 2016,” said Schwarz. “I could not be more excited to see Archbridge expand to this extent, but we are not resting on our laurels. We can reach even greater heights with our hard work in research, policy outreach, and educational resources, delivering actual solutions for federal, state, and local policymakers to enact and speaking directly to Americans who deserve to flourish in their day-to-day lives and live out their American Dreams.”
“Archbridge takes a truly distinctive approach to understanding human flourishing that connects the deeply personal aspects of people’s lives with the broader economic and cultural conditions that enable individuals and society to thrive,” said Routledge. “Whether we are studying occupational licensing or today’s pop culture trends, our work aims to help people reach their full potential and live meaningful lives. We’re dedicated to sharing these insights with a wide range of audiences—from mainstream media to content consumers around the world. And we are just getting started.”
“When it comes to public policy research, we want Archbridge to be second to none in a competitive space, and this unprecedented expansion will help us get there,” said Timmons. “Our rapid growth has turned Archbridge into a true power player, but we still operate like a feisty start-up, where dynamism is welcome and the best ideas rise to the top. We look forward to building on this entrepreneurial spirit and powering further growth in the years ahead.”
